How to Apply
To apply for this year's programme, please enter your email address below and we will send you a link to the application form for you to complete and return to us by email.
Application Deadline
While the formal application deadline has now passed, applications for this year's programme may still be submitted to a "clearing" round. To be considered for clearing, please send us your completed application (with digital passport-size photo) as soon as possible. Do note that applications at this stage will be considered on a first come, first serve basis. If you have any queries about deadlines, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Shortly after receiving application forms, we will invite applicants for interview or reject their applications. Applicants usually find the interview and assessment part of the selection process an enjoyable one during which they meet and exchange ideas with some fairly interesting people.
Given the degree of investment in terms of time and energy involved, we need to be sure that the right people attend FiL programmes. That’s why the process is structured in the following way.
Phase 1
Application Form. Please enter and send us your email address (above) and we will automatically email you an application form in MS Word. Once you’ve received our email, please download and complete the application form to the best of your ability and return it to us along with a photograph of yourself by email.
Phase 2
Interview. If your Phase 1 application meets our criteria you will be notified by telephone or email and be invited to an interview with a member of the FiL team.
Phase 3
Group Assessment. If your interview in Phase 2 meets our criteria, you will be notified by telephone or email and invited to attend a group assessment at one of the following cities:
- London
- Sheffield
We will inform you of the nature of the group assessment prior to your arrival.
Maintaining diversity inevitably means that some very able applicants will not be accepted. FiL endeavours to ensure that applicants who are not offered a place on this year's FiL programme understand that their non-acceptance is neither a personal rejection nor a reflection on the calibre of the candidate.
Deserving candidates whose applications are unsuccessful need not complete another application form if they wish to reapply, rather they will automatically be invited to the interview and/or assessment stages of future FiL offerings.
